Cost Effective Concrete Repairs
Concrete repairs in Sydney is inherent due to the proximity to the ocean as salt travels inland over 100km and when air bourne combined with strong wind currents and rain the salty water gets absorbed into the concrete and where the internal steel reinforcing is within 25mm to the surface it will start to corrode and when the internal steel rusts is starts to expand and due to the expanding force it blows out and or spalls the surrounding concrete thus resulting in the term Spalling or Spalled Concrete, the method require for concrete spalling repairs is to access the area using Industrial Rope Access to then remove damaged concrete surrounding the affected area using a grinder to square cut down to the internal steel.
Preparation of the internal steel requires all rust and latencies to be remove using abrasive power tools down to bare white steel and where loss is greater than 10% the steel will require replacement in consultant from a structural engineer, then cut square edges to min 25mm.
Patching requires application of Sika Mono top 610 internal steel treatment sink coating to be applied as specified by manufactures directions, then apply Sika Mono top 615 HB or CI to the wet Mono top 610 (as the 610 is also a bonding bridge) then fill affected areas with Mono top 615 and finish with concreting techniques to best match the existing finish of facade, then allow to cure for 48hr before painting.
