Anchor point testing services for annual certification
31/07/2011
Anchor points, no matter what type, need to be inspected on an annual basis in order to remain certified under Australian standards requirements.
Personnel should not use anchor points where there is no evidence of testing, inspection & certification taking place within the previous 12 month period. Anchors should be tagged and all relevant information should be clearly visible to the operator. There should be a certification document or statement of compliance, dated within the previous 12 month period and located at the entry point to the roof area. An induction and operator manual should be available to use in the planning of undertaking works via an anchor point system.
Personnel, whether employees or contractors, should seek this information and any other relevant information relating to the use of any height safety and roof access system before they conduct a JSA and go through risk assessment and safe work method statement development.
Anchor point testing saves lives and are governed by strict requirements. Make sure your anchor points are tested and certified before allowing a contractor or personnel to use them.
Personnel are also required to have completed training in safe work at heights and have achieved a practical and theoretical level of competency in the use of ancillary equipment and height safety systems.

Anchor points need to be tested every 12 months to be used
11/02/2011
In order for you or your personnel to continue to use an existing height safety system, the system must be inspected by a qualified height safety manager and have compliance tags applied, plus receive a statement of certification. Particular types of anchors require processes such as load testing to be applied, so as to ensure that the anchor can withstand the correct amount of force required to be certifiable under the australian standards requirements.
If you come across a system where the tags are unreadable, where the last inspection date was more than 12 months ago, or even if you just aren’t 100% sure that the system could withstand the force of a fall event, call in the anchor point testing professionals to come and carry out the certification procedure before you begin your works.
